What happened is that I had made the chips without actually having a car to develop them with. I made the changes to timing and fuel theoretically. I was quite conservative in the timing for that reason. It turns out that one person is even using the chip I made for 93 octane in CA, with 91 octane. So all I plan to ship for now is the chip originally labelled "93" which will be the new 91 octane version. I'll make a 93 octane version later if there is any demand. And I'll tune it on the dyno, now that it is properly working (if I find a car here in Toronto)

I'll run a group buy on the 91 318iS chip if anyone is interested. I need 6 orders minimum, the price would be retail - 10%

My roomy and I (both with 318is) are going to get in on it. I see it organized on bf.c, still looking for a specific thread for the CURRENT GB on here.

Mark, I'm also looking for the gains to 'sell' the chip to my roomy. I don't see any specs (other than the raised rev limit) on your site. Can you tell me any more about it? Thanks!

Oh, and you mentioned the person in CA running it with the icky 91 gas we get here. I would guess that means he isn't having pinging problems, correct? It would suck for us if he HAS the problems and just is ignoring them...
SOMEBODY messed with my sig so now you get this one:

                  -Bump-

Mark D's website shows only a 91 Octane chip. I have read elsewhere on this forum that there was a 93 Octane M42 chip.

Are 93 Octane M42 chips no longer offered? What's the deal?

                    Aj,

Mark makes the 93; but hasn't listed them on the site. You can either contact him or Mel (mel@abrahamsmotorsport.com) regarding the 93 octane chip. I ran a small GP for Mark awhile ago and sold three 93 versions.

                      Hi,

Thanks for the reply - I e-mailed w/ Mel an hour or two ago, and he said Mark doesn't produce 93 Octane M42 chips anymore, stating that there was no power gain over 91 Octane chips.

I don't know who's right or wrong - just looking for some details.

                      Thanks!

I finally drove a MarkD chipped M42 before and after last weekend. It's a really noticeable difference, especially in throttle response and mid-range torque. I was skeptical because the M42 makes pretty damn good power for its displacement (for a motor design 17 years old anyway), but the chip really is a nice addition. On par with the M20 chip, I'd say.
