Massive - Adapters for Recaro seats on BMW sliders

I will soon have available some steel adapters allowing to install your Recaro seats with reclining back (like SRDs) on the original BMW sliders that are under your stock seats. The adapters are manufactured from extra sturdy 4.5mm steel and protected against corrosion. The adapters will position the Recaro seat as low as possible, about 1/4" below stock position.

Target price is $99.00 per pair at intro price. Much cheaper than the $270.00 asked for Recaro sliders and bracketry.

If you are interested, don't hesitate to subscribe to this thread.

    Thanks

    Lee

Per pair meaning 1 pair required per seat, or for a pair of seats?

    Either way, very interested.

Pair is two mounts for one seat.

      Check your bolt pattern.

In for two pair, One LS and one SRD. My SRD currently my head with no helmet hits the roof of my M and I'm only 5-10.

Wow. Any picture of your current mounting system?

I'm in Spain at the moment Lee won't be back for at least a week. But the base is an E30 Recaro slider. No angle adjustment just forward and aft. Have had this base for about 10 years.

BTW - I am also working on a semi-fixed system that allows to lower the seat 2" more, and yet gives front-to-back adjustments. So, no OEM sliders required on that option. And it works with the race seats sidemounts...

The first option for mounting your Recaro seats will be to use the OEM sliders. Tall people wanting to substancial lower their seating position will have the option of mounting the seat mounts on the new floor mounts. These mounts have three mounting positions at the bottom, and seven on the side. They also lower the seat by a full 2" (50mm). So, no more driving with your neck tilted as if you were looking under girls' skirts just because you are too tall and your neck touches the ceiling. The optional floor mounst will be available in the same time as the bottom mounts. I am currently looking at options for the surface protection. Gold or black zinc, or satin black powder coating. The shop is already calculating the bends and type of steel to be used.

The floor mounts are 100% compatible with the aluminum sidemounts used on the race seats.

                    Lee,

Have you figured out the finish on these? (looking for satin black powdercoat to match the factory stuff - would you be able supply them bare?) I picked up a set of Josh's mounts and most likely they won't work for me, but I haven't had a chance to mount them up yet.

                    Cheers

What about ours won't work for you? Just curious, maybe it's something we can change or improve?

Lee, these look great! I'm glad to see that someone is putting out another type of design. Ours were designed to work specifically with the MkII Recaros, but they seem to have worked with others. Looks like you have access to a little more sophisticated machinery than we do. :D

I'm contemplating gold zinc plating or black satin powder coating. As I have had good luck with quality rattle can, I even considered letting the parts bare for cheaper, allowing people to paint them the way they want. Anyway. I am not set yet on finish. ;-)

I myself actually might be interested in a set of these, since as of right now, I'm sitting at less than 1/2" of clearance with my helmet on in my car.

Oups. I had no idea a similar product was once offered. Whoever is interested should check the mountig specs from the diagram posted early in this thread. 406mm side-to-side and 261mm front-to-back with the second bolt 25mm behind the first one.

To ensure the floor and seat mounts combo will fit your needs (especially when your helmet touches the ceiling), check how high your current seat is. With the seat and floor mounts, the base of the seat is at barely 1.625" above floor pan (if you run carpetless) - 1/4" higher with carpeting still installed (1/4" shims must be fitted under the mounts). Front-to-back adjustment will have the same range as stock (without the sliding effect).

If the stock sliders are used with the seat mounts, lowering will be no more than 1/4"to 1/2". But at least you'll be saving a bundle.
