    Eibach Lowering Springs...feeler

    Hey guys,

I've recently picked up a new dealer that is offering better pricing on Eibach springs. Would anyone be interested in one of the following packages?

Pro Kit springs: $199.95 (+ shipping and tax for CA)
    318i: 1.6"/1.0" drop
    318ic: 1.5"/1.0" drop
    325e/es/i/is: 1.6"/1.4" drop
    325ic: 1.7"/0.8" drop

Pro Kit Springs: $209.95 (+ shipping and tax for CA)
    M3: 1.0"/0.8" drop

Shipping would be actual, no handling. Tirerack is selling the same it's for approx. $40 more for both items. Anyone interested?

how do those compare with H&R Sports? Are they a bit more rough? Cause, I will be getting Bilstein Sport Shocks - but, I can't decide what springs I want.

H&R Sports vs. Eibach Pro Kit Springs ..

I'd probably need to buy the stuff to adjust my camber with the Eibach's, huh?

Either way, looks like an awesome deal!

I must come forward and state whats on my mind here..

Eibach Pro-Kit springs are utter shit.

they are soft as hell, and sag to the point of looking horrid.

Hmm, so do you reccommend H&R Sports over them, Jordan? Anyone else?

I have three friends with these springs on their e30s. Not one of them has sagged, they look just fine, and feel like they should. These are also the same springs that are going on my car at the end of this month. As for shocks to pair them with, I'm leaning towards either Koni adjustables or Tokico Illuminas. I've driven with the Eibachs and Bilstein sports paired together and they are well suited to the street and autocross, I'm just looking for a more agressive and adjustable setup.

I'll post a comparison on the spring rates tomorrow showing the actual difference between the H&R Sport and Eibach Prokits. At least then, everyone who's interested can make a more educated determination on what is best for them.

I'd have to agree with Jordan.

My eibachs supposedly have 10k miles on them and have sagged hardcore. They are extremely soft too, even with the reasonably-stiff Biltstein Sport shocks. I suppose they would be alright for someone who wants to lower their car and retain near-facory ride quality, but performance-wise they are crap. I would never buy another set, but thats just me.[/i]

Okay...here's what I have been able to find out:

H&R: Unless you work at H&R, they will not disclose their spring rates to anyone. Niether business or consumer.

Eibach: All of their front springs are Linear 115-120lbs. The rears for all kits are progressiveexcept for the 318i. The rear rates are as follows:

                  318i: linear 260lbs
                  318ic: pro. 270-350lbs
                  325e/i: pro. 225-325lbs
                  325ic: pro. 260-350lbs
M3: discontinued, however the 325 springs may be used. Original rates were pro. 270-350lbs.

Also tried a few other places for comparisons. Basically, the only company I found willing to disclose their spring rates to the public is Eibach. If anyone knows of another...I'd be happy to look into them.

I would be interested. Course it'll take me some time to save up. Let us know when and if this becomes available.

Eibachs are way too soft. My stock height 325e was taking corners better than my friend's Eibach Prokit equipped 325is.

Here are Brew's old Eibach's on my car:

They are great if you looking for a drop without a harsh ride. I'd have to admit that they arn't much of an upgrade in stiffness though.

Now that I think about it Weston, your car rode so much better than my friend's 325is, I wonder why, same suspension...

i have eibachs a bilstein sports and personally i find that the ride is much stiffer than the 13+ year old springs and as you can tell i have a cab which is heavier and cornering is very good with them maybe they wouldnt be the best for track use but really they are much stiffer than stock. just my 2 cents
