Bought mine Thursday, showed up Monday installed today. I like it much better than the Z3 one I had. Its not as short as the Z3 but not hard to get into gear like the Z3. Really easy install too.

Not as short as in the height of the shifter? or do you mean the shortness between shifts, in other words, shift throw?

both actually. Its taller than the z3 and longer in throw as well, should have been more clear.

                        Why is it DTM style?
I'm sorry but DTM cars never ran a shifter like this.

This just looks like a plain old short shifter that sits in the OE cradle. Please tell me that those 2 o-rings are not the only things that locate the shifter in the cradle. That design could do with some improvement.

                        Sorry, just sayin'

What makes a "DTM" shifter a DTM shifter? I see all these companies advertising shifters as "DTM" shifters.

Obviously every DTM team was different as they built their own chassis and had their own enginering preferences.

The accepted description I guess, for this purpose, is a shifter that meets the following criteria:
                            - Mounts directly to the transmision tunnel
                            - Does not rely upon the OE shift carrier support
                            - Mounts gear knob much closer to driver
                            - Typically has leverage ratios designed to suit dog boxes, or boxes without synchros.

These sorts of shifters are a bit of pain to use everyday because:
                            - the very high leverage ratio makes it easy to shift faster than the gearbox synchros can handle.
                            - as they mount directly to the trans tunnel, any movement of the engine or trans is reflected at the gearknob. This means you need to run solid mounts. Not poly, solid.
