Time to get me some bushings. Are your products made in America?

Yes. Everything we sell is made by us in Detroit, MI. We don't outsource a single thing.

Cool, putting together my order. Can you give me a quick rundown of why your motor mounts are preferable to a bolt-through design (like akg)? Besides the price difference (pretty significant for this part), I'm trying to wrap my head around why I would want bolt through or not. Not sure what the advantages are one way or another. I plan on using the m20 poly mounts to support my m30 swap. The increase in HP and weight kills a lot of stock rubber mounts, so I want the sturdiest possible without going solid.

If this is the wrong place, we can move to PM.

          Thanks

Will the M50 swap mounts work for reg M42 mounts?

similar to what's stated by this guy: http://www.e30tech.com/forum/showthread.php?t=97160

              P.S. E36 Tranny mounts = E30 318is Tranny mounts

M42 mounts are 3/8" shorter than the M50 swap mounts. So, no, I don't recommend using the m50 mounts on an m42.

The e30, e36, and e46 trans mounts are actually all the same. We just list them separately to minimize confusion.

Mounts with isolated ends are generally preferred over mounts with straight through bolts because the straight through design does not provide proper dampening. With the straight through design you basically have a polyurethane mount when the engine pushes down but then a solid mount when the engine pulls up on the mount. The straight through mounts also prevent a consistent bolt torque from being achieved because the more you tighten the bolt the more the mount compresses. Then when you drive the car the mount squishes as you go over bumps and accelerate which causes the torque on the bolt to loosen and tighten over and over again. This puts unwanted strain on the bolts and the vehicle's chassis.
Now, a mount with isolated ends (which is what we sell) has the same dampening characteristics whether it is being compressed or stretched. Also, independent ends allows you to torque the bolts to the factory specs and be confident that they will stay properly torqued.

You mentioned another company and I'm not specifically referring to their products or any others. I am talking about the design in general. The things I talked about are the reasons why Revshift does not offer straight through polyurethane mounts. We believe that if you are going to run straight through mounts then you might as well avoid issues and just run solid mounts at that point.

I don't want this thread to turn into a debate. So, if anyone has any questions or you don't agree with what I have said please PM me and we will talk about it.
                  Thanks.

As a salesman, I appreciate a well defended pitch. Makes enough sense to me, got my shopping basket ready, m20 motor mounts and m3 tranny mounts (I'm using a g265 with m3 crossbar). With the coupon, I'm sitting at $144, just $5 from free shipping. Got a t-shirt or sticker pack I can add to my cart to hit the free ship mark?

Phew, got my order in. Since I didn't hear back about a t-shirt or small filler, I got that nifty vacuum manifold. Sent you a PM, thanks for the sale. Looking forward to seeing your mounts.
