As I understand from people who have done all sorts of swaps using the 5-speed (the only swaps I've done are 6-speeds), the DSSR198 or DSSR189 works with the E36 boxes depending on part production date or selector joint used.

For use with the original E30 box behind the M5x motors, we are about to offer a correctly-twisted variant of the DSSR187.
