    GB: Euro bumpers

So.... Matt and I have put our brains together and thought about what the US needs the most. And then it hit me..... Euro bumpers. So.... for all you early model owners here's the deal. In order to make this worth while I need to get at least 10 people who will more than likely jump on the band wagon and pick these up. Shipping is going to kill me on this so I've got to have reassurance that people want these things before I send them on a boat across the lake. These will be all chrome bumpers with euro trim and end caps. When possible I will include the bolts and nuts to mount them also. They will come with the mounts already attatched and should be already assembled. They may show minor wear as they will be coming from in some cases 20 year old cars..... so you MAY have to polish or put a little work into making them look perfect. They will not be full of rust. I will not sell something I wouldn't put on my car. Matt will recieve the full shipment and distribute them from his home in L.A. We are looking tenatively at 300 a set plus shipping. IF I can put this together and we get enough people and shipping is what I think it will be from Europe to the states, then we SHOULD be able to get these shipped to your door for 350. But as of right now expect 300-400. I will try to make these as affordable as possible. You know the deal..... post up if you want them. Thanks.

        FWIW:
Cross country shipping for assembled bumpers is going to be ~$100-120 due to size. That is AFTER they get here to the USA.

How can you assure buyers the rear bumpers are not rotted away to complete nothingness? This is a huge problem as you know...

        $300 a set?
They cost just a bit more than that from the dealer new... un-chromed though if memory serves...

Who is going to pay import taxes, duties, handling fee's, etc.?
Anyone remember the amount of work that went into James C's. bulk purchase from the UK????
        Good luck!

The shipping can be done via freight. My motor shipped from St. Paul to Cincinnati was 75 bux.

How I can assure buyers is the same way any seller can assure buyers..... either pictures or my word. Whats my motive to scam someone for 150 bux when I have done thousands in sales and will do thousands more? I get what you are saying though and point taken.

$300 from dealer new is without trim, end caps, mounts and bolts. This is complete.

I have no clue about the import fees and duties. I'll have to look into that. No I don't know about J.C.'s purchase from the UK. Enlighten please?

          Thanks for the help!

not worried about that... he's only 45 mins away from me :D

Actually... my girlfriend goes to school at occidental which is very close to Matt. With all the shortcuts i've found going to her school, I bet I could be at Matt's place in 25 mins while not heavilly exceeding the speed limit.

I'm up for taking in some boxes on the east coast - help keep the shipping down if you get them on both coasts. Just an idea.

Cleaned up this thread... Let's keep any further replies to this topic reseved for people who are interested in the purchase. If you're not interested in a set of bumpers, don't post. It's easy.

Now Matt, Chris did have some helpful information in his posts - I'm sure Ken and James are well aware of what a process this can become.

Chris, if you have any advice to share, send it Marakka's way - we'll keep this post as a "those interested" post. That way everyone is happy...that goes for everyone else as well.

This sale is a good deal.

Euro bumpers are 3 sections, the trim has three sections plus caps, then there are two bumper mounts and then there is all the mounting hardware.

All of this can be ordered from the dealer but it does COST.

My front bumper center section was $99 US and I was told the two side sections cost a similar amount, each. That means a front bumper minus trim and mounting hardware costs $300.

If you can get front and back with trim and mounts for that price I'd say it's great!

I shipped a pair of complete euro bumpers (disassembled) from OR to MA for less than $50 via FedEx Ground.

As Chris mentioned above, finding enough rear bumpers that aren't rusted away will be a problemo.

Thanks for all the input fellas. I'm hoping this will work out.

BF, that might be a decent idea. IF this does work then I'll look into it.

Shipping them disassembled is no problem. You could do that through the USPS, but the problem lies in disassembling them. The bolt that goes through the bumper usually rusts fairly well and becomes very very very tight. Once you get it to spin, it just spins the head on the other side that is covered by the finishing trim. You can't get to it because the finishing trim itself is held on by the same bolts that you are taking off. I've sold bumpers before thinking I could get them apart to ship via USPS. No dice.

I went through about 50 cutting wheels on my dremel to get through three bolts on the bumpers. It's such a shitty design. I don't see how you could ship them assembled though... unless they were in a box.
