Feeler - Powder Coated Valve Covers and Intake Mani's

This is just a thread to gauge who may or may not want these. I've got a buddy who offers powder coating. He can do regular finishes, wrinkles and candies. He offers damn near any color you may want. I'm assuming MOST people would want black. I do not have a price as of yet. He is working that issue. I am sending him a few pieces to do and I will post them once they are done. Anyone for a candied ///m stripe on their valve cover? How bout a bronzit intake? It can be done. If he gets me a good price then I'll post them up.... if not I'll give him the bird and tell him to eat a bowl.... Thanks for looking.

Oh yeah.... IF this does happen I'll have to get vendor status. So.... no I will not sell these directly until that happens. Thanks again.

    Max

What are you talking about? Almost all of the intake manifolds are already Bronzit... It's called Cosmoline.

I was joking, because when the BMWs were shipped to the US, the engines were coated with Cosmoline to protect it. The Dealers never washed off the Cosmoline, and after many years, it turned yellow.

So, that's why when you look at the engine bay of a US BMW, everything has a tint of yellow to it.

Been discussed many times, I seem to remember seeing that someone was going to PC any color, then send out and you send back a core so the business is ever revolving....

A valve cover after it has the oil baked out and chemically cleaned and labor cost would be about $50-$65 each. Shipping variable, For you I can't see it being feasible. Unless you were to buy every valve cover from the Military resale lots for M20 engines.

Bobby was selling them last year correct as well as Rob and everyone tore into his stuff...

Gonna say it might be a tough one.

That was the plan. I can get intakes and valve covers for m20's for pennies. The only thing I really don't know about is $$$ for PC. The end product from what I have seen is REMARKABLE. I immediately asked him to get me one for my neon but...... the valve cover, intake and air box are ALL plastic so no dice. I've got an Alpina valve cover on the way so.... no chance in hell I'll be powder coating that or I'd do this myself. As soon as I get an idea on what it will cost me I'll post it up. I'm going to try to make a run of 10 valve covers to start and go from there. 3 black gloss, 2 black wrinkle, 2 ///mstripe gloss, 1 ///mstripe wrinkle and 2 ///mstripe candy.

I'm thinking this is out of the price range where anyone would want to touch this, but I got a price.

These are dual layered PC jobs. I've seen this guy's work and it is flawless. Any color you can imagine. 2 different finishes. gloss or wrinkle. A candy coat would be 20 bux more. Price is going to be around 120 for a powder coated valve cover shipped to your door. There is no core charge. This is for a new (to you) valve cover with no gasket. If thats too much.... then the deal won't work. If anyone is interested I can start picking up valve covers.

Not really because I have access to huge amounts of valve covers at super cheap prices. I just ran accross an auction about 2 weeks ago for 30 valve covers that ended at 20 euro.... they are used as ski's over here. So the valve cover costs nothing. The lil guys.... I'll have to see what I can find. I think I might come up with a few. that might be something i could work a small core charge on to get stock going.... but its not going to be much. At this price I'm only working for networking with the guy...... So I don't have much bargaining room.

fair enough, i'm just trying to stave off the typical "how can it be cheaper" r3v questions...

I can still get them done in black texture powdercoat if anyone wants to send theirs to me. Would cost about $65 plus shipping. IF anyone is interested.

Can you do it like Jordan's car. You know, both intake mani and vavle cover? I'm going to start restoring my car pretty soon and really like how it looks on his car.
