GB: Koni Single Adjustables & Ground Control

I'm currently putting together a group buy together for anyone interested in getting some Koni Single Adjustables (yellow).

Current price for all e30 models, not including the 'ix' is $459.95 plus shipping.
Depending upon the level of interest, I may be able to include shipping. Thus far on other forums I have 6 on the interested list for a complete set of Konis.

Also, I'm working on some Ground Control items. Here are some current prices on these items:

    1. Complete e30 Coilover Kit (Includes shocks, choice of springs, adjusters, camber/caster plates & RSMs): $1,350 plus shipping (MSRP $1,599.00)

    2. Coilovers (choice of springs): $350 plus shipping (MSRP $399.00)

    3. Camber/Caster Plates: $260 (MSRP $299.00)

    Please let me know guys!

    Current Koni count: 6

I need to have my front struts sent to G-C to be modified and have some of their shortened Koni's put in the tubes. Any GB / discount there? :)

Unfortunately, the GB won't cover labor to modify the strut housings. However, if you're still interested, I can look into the special GC short-body Koni.

What is the timeframe on this GB?
If I were to purchase the full coil over kit, are they direct fit or do I need any modifications?

There are different Koni SA's available for each of the different models. If you have an M3, specify that and you will receive revalved e30 M3 Konis. If you are driving a 325i/is and you want the e30 M3 Konis, you can specify that, however it really won't make much of a difference as they are interchangable and GC re-valves them for the chosen spring rate. It wouldn't matter which part # you started with, as they would end up valved the same.

The rear end of the kit is a very straight forwad install and the components swap directly with factory components. The only major different in the rear shock mounts is that the mount with the bolts pointing downward rather than upward and they have a support piece that sandwiches that portion of the body to strengthen it.

The front does involve some modification to the strut assembly. The lower perches need to be cut off and the new lower perch for the 2.5" ID springs must be welded in place. If you are buying the kit that comes with the camber/caster plates, the plate replaces the factory strut bearing and has a built in upper retainer for the spring. If you order the short-body Konis, you will need to further shorten the strut tube for increased shock travel. It is highly recommended that you find a (perforance/race not repair) shop to do this for you if you do not know what you are doing.

would the sa koni's work well with a set of IE stage III springs without modification? The strut housing welding business is just for the coil-over setup right? and the koni's just insert into my 20 year old strut housing?

Ok folks here's a little update. I'm waiting to hear back on the short-bodies and my distributor is currently working on a warehouse Koni order, so he's crunching some numbers to let me know if he can give me a better price break. He's also going to let me know when their order date is, so once I know when that we'll be, I'll have a closing date for this GB.

With regards to the IE stage 3 springs, I have not tested the combination personally, however there should be no problems. I know of people using Bilstien Sports with IE 3's and have had no problems. The Koni's are shorter when compressd than the Bilstiens...so shock travel shouldn't be an issue at all and you can adjust the rebound to your liking.
