    Feeler: 3M paint protection

This isn't really a GB thread, I'm just trying to figure out how much interest there is in this product.

What started this thought is this thread: http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=67005

CN: People are suggesting to use painters tape to protect the car during a road trip.

Here's where my sales and marketing skills come into play. I'm an authorized re-seller and installer of 3M paint protection. After looking around, I wasn't able to really find an place that carries paint protection for the e30s. So, I wanted to see how many of you care about your paint enough to purchase one of these kits. And how much would you be willing to pay? You might want to factor in installation, too. This stuff isn't impossible to work with. But imagine trying to wrap a 2D film around a 3D surface...it can get tricky.

Here's what I'm thinking...I would need 10-15 people to commit to this. I'm not sure on the price of the kits. Would really depend on how much it would cost to develop the pattern. I can tell you I normally sell the kits as half coverage (covering the hood, fenders, and mirrors) or full coverage (covering the above plus bumper). I would have to limit the bumpers to a couple standard designs. Trying to make a pattern for everyones specific lips would be a pain. For those situations, I usually do a custom piece.

If your interested, please post here with details, such as year and model. I'm going to have to determine which years and models will allow me the most coverage. Also, if you have picture of the front end of your car, that would be REALLY helpful.

Last, installation services are available. I'm located in Charlotte, NC and can drive anywhere within 4 hours for an install. Anything further away, I would suggest you get a group together and I can come out and do a few cars over a weekend. For the installs, the cars aren't limited to e30s. So, if you've got another car or other people interested, you can add them to the mix.

    thanks

If you've got pics of your front end, would be very helpful

I'd be interested in one for just the front of the hood and maybe mirrors. Does 3M make film for the lights as well? Fog lights and head lights. I think a lot of people would like those. I'm getting a set of lamin-x just for the low beams for now but will want some for the rest of the lights soon.

I would definately throw down for this kit. I have 2 cars, both 89-91 facelift models. One with plastic US bumpers, another with M-Tech2 bumper and valance.

Can you get me some pics? I might have found a supplier willing to make kits for our cars...
