GB: Ground Control & Koni Adjustables

Hey folks! Sorry I missed everyone at BimmerFest this year. Unfortunately we weren't able to get the car finished in time, but we will definately be there in force next year.

I've had a lot on inquiries lately about putting together another Ground Control group buy, so I've decided to go ahead and do it. So far, here is the pricing I've worked up. The numbers are fairly static and I will need at least 5 confirmed coilover kit buyers to offer these prices.

Also, since we're doing the GC buy, I think it's probably a good time to go ahead and offer the Koni's as well. Again, I will need 5 confirmed buyers (complete sets) for Konis to offer these prices.

If you are interested in the COMPLETE GC coilover kit ($1,399 + shipping) your order will count as 1 for each of the GC and Koni lists.

    1. Complete e30 Coilover Kit (Includes shocks, choice of springs, adjusters, camber/caster plates & RSMs): $1,399 plus shipping (MSRP $1,799.00)

    2. Coilovers (choice of springs): $350 plus shipping (MSRP $399.00)

    3. Camber/Caster Plates: $260 (MSRP $299.00)

    4. Konis: Current price for all e30 models, not including the 'ix' is $459.95 plus shipping. Full set $20, pairs $15 for shipping anywhere in the continental US. $15 full set, $10 pairs within California only.

    Ground Control Buyer List:
    1. mspiegle (complete kit)
    2.
    3.
    4.
    5.

    Koni Buyer List:
    1. mspiegle (complete kit)
    2.
    3.
    4.
    5.

You sure can :) The prices for the iX Koni sets will run 479.95 plus shipping.

One more thing I would like to add for my fellow military guys out there. We WILL ship to an APO/FPO, but please be advised that these will have to be shipped via USPS as there is no UPS/FedEx shipping to these locations. If you do still want to go through UPS/FedEx, we'll be happy to send it to your physical address, but there will be a substantial cost increase due to the international shipping.

Jason, can you do anything matching the Konis with some other springs like H&R or IEs?

I can match up a discount on Eibach Pro-Kits for $229.95 if purchased with a set of Konis. I'm going to have to look into the H&R a little bit to see what I can do with that, as we don't sell very much H&R. The IE springs I can't do anything about as I don't have any room to play with on those.

Why is the kit ~$200 more than the sum of its parts? Does it come with replacement strut housings or anything?

Because it also includes the GC RSMs

The RSMs are $100. The kit (as I understand it) is (list prices):

                  $400 - Coilover kit
                  $520 - Konis
                  $300 - Camber plates
                  $100 - RSMs

It doesn't even add up to the GB price. I must be missing something.

Please keep in mind that the complete kit price is available whether or not we reach the minimum of 5 in each group.

The complete kits also include weld on perches, custom GC bump stops, and the m3 swaybar linkage tabs for e30s not using e30 M3 front strut assemblies. Furthermore, the complete kits have the shocks placed on a shock dyno and are pre-matched/dyno tuned to the spring rates you choose. This is not available for shocks purchased seperately for use with other springs. If you want to purchase Konis and a Basic GC Coilover Kit (springs, sleeves, adjusters and perches only) there will be a seperate $20 charge to have them dyno tuned to match the springs. This $20 charge is to offset the cost to ship the shocks to GC for dyno tuning.

Also, Koni does not make a top-adjustable shock for the rear of any model of e30. I'm quite sure they could make them, but those are a custom item and I have been told by other shops that to have these made run upwards of $600 each for the rear shocks. I cannot validate this, only passing along what I've heard. Personally, I think it's worth saving the extra $500 on each rear shock for about 10 minutes worth of removal and adjustment work.

koni does have the top adjustable rear shocks and they are made exclusively for GC. They are sold out though. here's the link

I will try to get these included on the complete kits. If they are not available at the time of the buy, I will need to know if the buyer will want the standard e30 rear shock, or the M3 part which has slightly more aggressive valving and is also 1" shorter than the standard e30 part. I personally prefer the M3 part as it allows you to lower the car a little further and the agressive valving is great. I have these on my car.

The GB pricing above does not cover GC's exclusive part numbers for the custom shocks.

Would it be possible to just get the adjustable camber plates? I already have the complete GC kit and konis on my car.
