Correct. If you have the early style expansion tank you will have to update to the later model stuff OR figure out a way to run the hoses.

For the 24v guys such as myself this mishimoto is pretty much plug and play. The early cars have slightly different mounting points for the bottom of the radiator but relatively straightforward to install.
