Rota Slips GB went FS, 16x8 & 15x8 now avail.

Rims ETA into port is July 28th.

because so many people dropped out from the setbacks, here is what is now available:
    8 sets 16x8 flat black for $550
4 sets 16x8 gun metal w/ polished lip for $550
    4 sets 15x8 steel gray for $525

the Slip streams have the proper offset and bore. jessica says they got burned on this deal unless you guys dont buy up. they might not do a deal like this again so i'm guessing you wont find rims this light at this price to fit too easily

They got burned on this deal because they didn't keep up w/ their end of the deal.

In an obvious scam to take as much money as possible from customers, without having to provide any real service, they threw out a date and said "Yes, that's when you'll get your wheels." Then they kept pushing it back once they started to actually do their part --- instead of keeping their promise to the customers that pre-paid for their custom wheels, and getting them their product on time.

So in the end, they only really burned themselves. Good riddance.

I'm sure they didn't WANT Rota to take a long time with this. Its unfortunate that it happened, but I don't blame them for it.

              I blame Rota.

But I also think you have to make your decisions intelligently. You can read all over the Internet that Rota is notorious for this treatment of custom orders. This is exactly why I stayed out of this GB. And if I was running a business, I wouldn't rely on Rota to treat my shop any differently than they obviously treat others.

I fail to see how this is a deal. You can order the same wheels from their website for the same price in any color. I assume a group buy comes with a discount, not less selection and the same price as any Joe off the street.

The groupbuy was for a custom set of wheels that will work better on an E30 than what was available.

Maybe for the 16x8's but not the 15's. Late September/early October for those. That is a tentative ETA, I'd bet.

Let's be realistic here-the 15's are a completely new casting, they will take a while.

It took a long time to put together 5 orders, and a lot of people bitched/whined about colors, styles, etc. Nowhere did I read any warnings about Rota being bad to deal with, caveat emptor I guess, huh? Would have been nice to have a heads up before ordering!

I understand that 18 Racing feels a little let down, but they are the ones that gave the opt out option when the order went long. It's too bad they (apparently) can't cancel the order with Rota for the 15's. I feel bad for them, but I can't say too much else right now.

This is on top of the fact that they want a full payment up front. (Just got a email from jessica today) I was going to seriously look into a set of 16's but not if they are going to require full payment up front and then make me way over a month giving that they actually come on time.

you sure about that?? you want to bet money?

there's no e30 centerbore in 15x8. this GB was to create them and start their production with this buy-in.

Both the 16's and 15's are specially made with an e30 offset and centerbore, which is a PITA to find, and this is a good deal considering how much most places charge for custom offset, then you'd probably have to redrill the centerbore on your own.

I'll wait my time, I was part of the original GB on the 16's and dont mind waiting for another month (or 2, or whatever)
