Feeler GB: Easy and Cheap 5 Lug swap!!

Well I found these spacers/adapters online that I thought people might be interested in. They have one spacer that bolts to the 4 lug hub and then a spacers that bolts to the other spacer to make it 5 lug. It looks solid too. They are made of 6061 billet aluminum and are made on a CNC machine. With both parts they are 44mm spacers.

They usually sell for about 150 + 25 shipping but they want to know about how many we need to give us the best price they can.

Screw those. What about them is so solid?

There is a company, http://motorsport-tech.com , who will actually custom make a set of adapters in any thickness and hubcentric for less. And their product is actually guaranteed and the shop has a good reputation.

    Heres an ebay link...

its just an idea. But those look pretty similar. They are both made from the same stuff too. Anyway who would be interested in the ones "is" posted?

i think i would be game as well. its a helluva a lot cheaper than doing the true conversion. i just wonder how having that extra inch or whatever between the wheel and the hub would affect our cars.

wouldn't you need a wheel with an offset in the range of et60-70 to make those work (assuming a 7-8" rim)

they would have to be like 20mm max, otherwise we wouldnt be able to run very many 5x120 wheels...

I know motorsport-tech can make adapters 25mm thick. Not sure if they can go smaller than that.

Which would put E36 wheels (ET40-45) at a perfect offset in narrow widths. True E30 M3 5-lug is best though.

I don't understand the idea behind a 2 disc adapter, just seems like to me more parts=more chance of something loosing up and/or going wrong.

PLus, isn't the main idea of a 5-lug swap for the bigger brakes?

yes for people wanted performance,5-lug swap is best.
but for people wanting looking,5-lug wheels.

Is it a bad idea to have such a large spacer? I mean as far as driveability and wear on different suspension parts? I think it would be cool to mount up some 5 lug wheels but I don't want somthing going wrong with them or any other part of my suspension.

For motorsport wheels to fit properly, you idealy want no larger than a 20mm spacer. 25mm is pushing it, and anything larger will make them poke out badly and look goofy.

Remember, motorsport wheels have a 41mm offset, and you want about a 20mm for a 7.5" front wheel and maybe even a little higher for the 8.5" rear wheel. So running 7.5's on all 4 with 20mm spacers would work nicely.
