Better camber/caster plates, better shocks, and better RSMs.

No disrespect to GC and KW, as they both make a good product. However, I drive an e30, e30s are my passion and it is my intent to create the best suspension product for the e30 for "the little guy". Granted, Penske, Moton, and a few select others make better shocks...but not everyone out there can afford $3,000+ just for shocks, and I don't know anyone that would for a street car. For the money, I'm extremely confident that there isn't a better system on the market, to include GC and KW.

nice answer, i like the option of top adjustable rear shocks. I have the regular adjustable koni's on the M5 and it's a PITA to remove the whole shock spring combo just to make a click harder, then shove it all back to gether again and go make another lap

the suspension i'm very close to purchasing is this kit from GAZ, the price is in the same area as GC and KW V2, but come with a true rear coil over, and dual adjustable shocks front and rear, which is critical on a bumpy track like the ring (just wish my dumb head could tune it correctly, good thing i have friends that can!)

not trying to sway away customers, it's just 6am here and i'm rambling my thoughts on a subject that has been on my mind for months...

I'm very close to releasing a true rear CO setup as well, however they will cost a little more than the current one because of the quality of the rear shocks (all being custom valved to the spring configuration and all will include individual shock dyno sheets for every shock). The rear shock mount will be completely redesigned and add a huge structural reinforcement to the rear end. It will also bolt into the car, and will be designed to work hand-in-hand with the Mason Engineering rear bracing system as an upgrade.

I seriously question the integrity of the rear end of those GAZ units if they bolt in as shown. Anyone that's been under the back end of an e30 where the upper shock mount is located knows that it's just sheet metal. I wouldn't exactly recommend resting the entire weight of the car on that little bit of sheet metal.

I didn't quite want to let the cat out of the bag just yet...but you have forced my hand Obe Wan.... :P

Also, after some checking, it also looks like the average cost for the GAZ set up is around 1800USD plus shipping for about 45-50lbs from Europe...so I'm going to wager you're looking at well over $2000 for their kit plus import duties etc., plus build time and ship time.

right, so then why are you talking about it in this gb thread? if you want to get something else, get it.

I could probably afford this kit, and I've been thinking hard about it. I might put my name up tonight, pending on whether or not I get this job.

becuase jason is an intelligent person who has the abilitiy to discuss the merits of his product without being rude.

if you took the time to read my post it said "the suspension i'm very close to purchasing" that would mean that i haven't made a decision yet, and discussing other options with people will help me decide what setup to use.

Jason - I was worried about the rear shock mount strength, but GAZ recomends a rear strut bar as a minimum for re-enforcements. I have a SBI bar, which mason copied, or SBI coppied or IE coppied, whatever it is, you know what it looks like, and i believe it will be sufficient for a means of re-enfocement.

What is your timeline on that rear coil over setup? I want my car to be finished by then end of the year incase there is another light winter in germany, i can start early on my 1 year pass at the ring.

shipping wouldn't be a problem, gotta love MPS : )

I'm not familiar with GAZ products. To be honest, I've never heard of them until you brought their name up...but their recommendation worries me. If you consider the direction of force when a CO set up, like the one we're discussing, would create against the sheet metal...a rear shock-tower brace will do virtually nothing. A rear shock tower brace with reinforcing plate would help prevent the CO from pulling out of the car in a downward motion...but would do zero (minimal at best) to help prevent the upper shock mount from pushing through the metal. No offense to anyone that believes the contrary, but that's the reality of it, and it seems pretty common-sense to me.

To answer your question about time-line, I'm around 2 months from being ready to release them to the public. I intend to put them through a solid month of intense abuse (ask anyone who has been with me on a drive about 'abuse' ) before I'm willing to release them to the public. We all understand that when we modify our cars, we inherit some risk that when we upgrade some parts, weaker ones fail...I'd sleep better at night if I knew it wasn't my part that was going to fail.

                      10.

Just got off the phone with Ron. He is in for sure, most likely with at 500/950 set up with upgraded rear shocks.

Still waiting to hear back from ldsbeaker and vlad_rpm. If they both confirm before Sunday, I'll fore go the last person and I'll close the GB and schedule the payment due date to next Thursday, parts ordered on Friday...so on and so forth. I would like to have 10 people, but I NEED 9 to mvoe on at this price.

If I don't have the minimum of 9 people by Sunday, I'm going to have to end the GB and move forward with those willing to pay the regular price, which right now stands at at least 4 people. I don't want to hold them up from their projects.

When that True Full (f/r) Coilover steup you disclised may be out in 2 months, i'd like to request the #1 spot on the group buy list. Sounds like it will be right on time for when I need it anyway.

Gutted to hear that the group buy will be closing this week :(

Could you offer me the same price in 1.5 months?

If guys that are confirmed are reading this would you mind waiting that little bit longer for me? I am 210% keen to purchase, just need a few weeks to gather up the funds!!
