I think it will be cheaper for you to flatten a 2.5" pipe and weld it onto the OEM duals.

The stock OBD-1 pipes are around 1.8 - 2.0" OD, so a double 2" into single 2.5" merge is what you'll need.

Flowmaster makes a true merge collector that fits this description.

Try flattening a 3" pipe to fit and weld all the way around, then do a 3"-2.5" conversion and it will be free flow still. I did that to my 325i OE exahaust into a Borla 3" muffler. Worked great, zero restriction.
