something I always wondered, how does BMW hike prices up on parts? Is it a regular occurence? A certain % across the board? Are prices going up consistently, ever down?

      It is all Economics.

The company changes prices based on the supply and demand of the actual part. Also the cost of importing parts is taken into consideration as well.

This should explain part of it.

I believe all BMW mats now come with velcro fastners. (Even if the car originally came with grommets)

Any of those methods would be great - just need to secure that sucker! the mats i threw out had holes for a pin or similar, but i had no pins. The rubber backing on them had decayed into hard pellets... those had to be original.

                    Hey Guys,

The official word from our BMW rep, as of the year 2000 (que in Conan Obrain music here... lol), is that ALL newly manufactuered BMW mats ONLY come with the Velcro, however the ones that would apply to older cars with the peg hole style, include a Genuine BMW retro-fit packet to interface the velcro mats with the old peg style.

That's the official word. Our rep is usually on point, and I haven't seen anything to the contrary of this info to date....

However... every now and again, we will sell a set of mats for an older model car, and those mats SOMETIMES have been sitting in one of BMWs warehouses for the last 7+ years, and they have the peg holes still.

                    Consider this a rarity.

There is no way to request the old style with BMW because they don't make them like that anymore, and they don't have a way to tell which ones are inside their boxes, until you open them up.

But again, the ones that are now velcro, that go into models that origianlly had the peg holes include the BMW retrofit kit, and I have NEVER had anyone complain about this BMW solution to date... so I imagine they are pretty well secured, or at least good enough not to complain.

Hope this helps clear this up!

                      Hi there!

In six years+ now in the BMW market, I have seen most things from BMW go UP in price :(... but every now and then, I have seen a part come down. Very rare, but has happened. I could probably count the part #s on my left foot's toes, but I have seen a couple prices come down.

Unfortunatley, usually BMW raises prices on an entire group of part #s by some metric mystery calculation, that they then apply to a vast swarth of parts.

My reps are usually aware ahead of time when a ticket price increase is scheduled by BMW, but until BMW releases the new pricing into the Dealer Rep systems, we don't know what the new prices will be, and /or what parts will go up and which will not.

I know that some of it has to do with the strength of the Dollar vs. the Euro, and many other factors.

I'm sure BMW has some team of MBA Financial Analysts that sit around figuring out how to squeeze more money out of the constituents base, and parts increases by 1-5% is probably a great way for them to increase their bottom line.

They don't usually do it that often (I remember a couple of years that went by with NO price increases), but in the last 12 months, we have seen 3 separate BMW increases.

If I remember correctly there was one last fall, one in the winter and one in early spring.

Nothing we can do about it unfortunately. It affects everyone, and they don't seem to do all the part #s at once, but instead, groups of part #s.

                      Hope that helps!

                          Hey,

As some of you may know some of the floormats that were originally offered on the E30's may no longer be available anywhere in the world today, so I wanted to give you guys the list of mats that according to our BMW rep are still available for your cars.

Here are the mats that are still obtainable from BMW:

82-11-1-466-899 - Genuine BMW E30 floor mats (except conv) Black
82-11-1-467-671 - Genuine BMW E30 floor mats (except conv) Indigo/Pacific blue
82-11-1-466-925 - Genuine BMW E30 floor mats (except conv) Natur
82-11-1-466-902 - Genuine BMW E30 floor mats (except conv) Pearl Beige
82-11-1-466-915 - Genuine BMW E30 conv floor mats Anthracite
82-11-1-466-928 - Genuine BMW E30 conv floor mats Indigo Blue
82-11-1-466-927 - Genuine BMW E30 conv floor mats Natur
82-11-1-466-916 - Genuine BMW E30 conv floor mats Pearl Beige
82-11-1-466-940 - Genuine BMW E30 conv floor mats Silver

If you were searching for mat that is not in this list it means that the mat was listed most likely as No Longer Available.

                              hell of a price

thats a great price, just got mine couple month ago for 110 from dealership. Save a good 20 dollars unless ofcourse if shipping cost 20 bucks then you only save the hassle of going to the dealership.
