16" Kopi wheels revisited

The lower the offset, the more it "sticks out" - ie. the closer to the fenders it is.
The higher the offset, the closer to the struts it is.
Ideally, for an E30, with a 6.5" to 7.5" rim, you want a 20mm offset.
If you use a higher offset wheel, you may have to use spacers.

ohh okay. I found some wheels on ebay and they have a 40mm offset. would using a 20mm spacer be too hard on the car?

20mm is close to 3/4"
I would not recommend such a wide spacer.
Sometimes it's difficult to eliminate a shimmy with such wide spacers.
You'll also need to get longer lug bolts.
Try to find wheels closer to a 20mm offset.

Oh I know, and sorry if that came off like I was screaming at you, that was just my own personal venting. I know you guys haven't been able to get them to make them yet. It's just crappy timing! :D

Does 1/2" make such a big difference?
I bet one couldn't tell the difference between 7" and 7.5" with the tires mounted.

The reason for the 7" width is that the factory has a 16" x 7" dye that can be used for the wheels - thus eliminating the expense of making a new dye.
Creating a dye from scratch will cost in the region of $20,000 which means we would have to get a commitment for about 400 16" x 7.5" wheels to get to a saleable price.

16x7.5 or don't bother.

Tell Kopi I have a "dye" for them, its 1 size too big to fit up their ass but I'm willing to give it my best try. :)

You can't possibly be serious. You could get a set of the authentic 16" Alpinas for WELL under a grand.
