Massive - Upgrade to floating discs

This is not the final offer yet, but the parts are currently in production. Basically, already purchased 300mm kits (21mm and 32mm thick rotors) can be upgraded to fully floating rotors, with a float-in-the disc system using steel drive pins. Rotors' mounting points are now slotted. That update is aimed at racers who reach very high operating temps. It is a bit noisier if used around town because of the play between the hat and the rotor, and perhaps not to the everyone's tastes. Which is why I aim that update to racers only.

While a regular rotor costs $90usd, the replacement rotors for floating kits is $150usd each because of the extra machining. Drive-pin kits will sell $60 for 16 drive-pins. Therefore, $360usd for the update package.

If purchasing a new kit, there will be a $180 premium over a standard kit.

No modification of the existing hat is required. Both versions of the BBKs will be offered as the floating system is an add-on.

    Pictures available soon.

Just got some pictures of the first floating discs for the float-in-the-disc kits. This is the 300mm x 32mm unit as found in the e30 M3 Rallye kit as well as the e30 front and rear Race kits. Older hats stay just the same and can be reused. Only rotors are different. They are slotted to allow the drive-pins to slide. Friction is between the pins and the rotor. Before jumping on them as an "upgrade" I'd like to highlight that they are for racing purpose as the floating system is slightly noisier than solidly attached discs. There's between 0.15 to 0.25mm lateral play, 1.5mm total expansion (will never go beyond .5mm) and 0.1mm pin play. Kling kling kling around town...

I also developped a more expensive floating system where the float happens in the aluminum hats. They are slotted, while the disc is a regular one with regular mounting holes. Drive-pins are machined one-by-one from stainless 303 at a very high cost. Can you spell $200 per kit of 24 units as production cost?

A teflon liner is inserted between the drive-pin's head and the hat to keep dust from blocking the slots, dampening noise, and improving the slide between the pin and the hat on each heat cycle.

Forgot to mention that there will be another version of front kit for the e30 non///M.

Floating rotors, radially mounted SL6R calipers with aluminum radial mounts. $1750usd. Deduct $175usd for standard solid mounted discs.

Now the $1050usd price tag of the Superlite kit suddenly becomes very reasonable. I will still sell that kit...
