    Pure Motorsport (pure-motorsport.com)

After searching around for weeks for the best price on Konis, I found it at Pure Motorsport. Someone told me about them, I don't remember who know. When I first found the site, the Konis were $495 for the full front and rear kit, plus $4 shipping (not a typo, $4 shipping).

A few weeks later they went up in price to about $520, which was ok since they were still cheaper than anyone else. However on their site, it listed them as being out of stock. I called them up to find out when they would have more, and they told me that they don't normally stock the E30 fitment shocks in their warehouse, so they just listed them as out of stock. But they said I could order them anytime I wanted, and they could drop ship directly from Koni in about 3-5 days, to my door. Cool.

So a few days later, April 15th to be exact, I went ahead and placed my order with a credit card online. All went good, order went through, blah blah blah. I got a confirmation email entailing my order, and telling me that I would get an email with tracking info on my shipment within 48 hours.

4 days later, I still have no email. I checked the status of my order on their site, and see that my order is still processing, and my credit card is "Pending Payment". So I sent an email to Pure Motorsport, just to check in and find out when my card will charged. They tell me that the shocks are on backorder, and that Koni themselves are out of stock. I'm told that their shipment from Koni is scheduled to arrive at the end of the week, and they will ship out and I will get tracking info.

Fast forward to the end of the week. Still no email from Pure. So after talking to Sean, who ordered the same kit a few days before me, I find out that Pure is not expecting their shipment from Koni until the 29th of April, 2 weeks away from when I was told in an email from Pure that they would arrive. I send another email to Pure, trying to be polite but obviously annoyed.

3 days pass with no response from Pure. Finally, 4 days after I sent the email, I get a personal email back from a direct manager, apologizing for the delays and the lack of communication. He explains that apparently what happened is they were suddenly SLAMMED with orders of E30 and E36 Koni shocks, due to word getting out that Pure had the lowest price on the kit. So much so that the order volume exceeded any ordering swell they had ever experienced. For the delays and the severe lack of communication on their part, they give me $20 off of my total order, which brought it down to only $500 shipped.

I was pleased with the discount, but very annoyed with the lack of communication on Pure's part, and telling different customers different things. However, everything did arrive as decribed and when they said it would, and I would probably still order from them again.

I had an almost identical experience. Here is my timeline:

4/18 - placed order via website.

4/20 - noticed order was "in process". Sent an e-mail requesting status. E-mail was answered promptly, in which it was stated that the shocks were out of stock but would be arriving via truck by week'es end.

4/26 - sent follow-up e-mail because order was still "in process". E-mail was again answered promptly stating that the shocks were shipped to Pure Motorsport from Koni on 4/15, but had not yet arrived.

5/3 - sent follow-up e-mail requesting status. Received a prompt and courteous e-mail from the owner in which he stated they were slammed due to an internet buzz, and coupled with the fact that Koni was dragging their heels it was very frustrating for them at well. Nonetheless, he assumed full responsibility and apologized for the delay. Stated a discount of $20 would be applied once the truck arrived.

    5/6 - item shipped

    5/18 - item arrived.

I will say that one month seems a bit excessive, even given the circumstances.

BUT, I really appreciate the fact that the owner seemed to be a real "stand-up" guy and that communication was always prompt and courteous. I was hoping for free shipping (as they offered on other products) or expidited shipping at no cost, instead of just what amounted to half-price shipping, but the prices were still very competitive and, again, I really appreciate the open and forthright communication. Also, I should note that my credit card was not charged until the item actually shipped (just "pending, not actually charged)

I give the vendor an 8 out of 10, and would buy from them again.

Eh, it's not a big deal, it was just frustrating at the time. I still got everything I ordered, and at a good price.

Well, I wasn't expecting the service to be bad. But yeah, it's a good thing I wasn't on a deadline.

Had I known of their service problems, I probably would have just bought them from Ground Control or Shox.com, but possibly could still have run into the same delays, due to part of the problem being that Koni themselves were out of stock.

Kinda surprised to hear. I got my springs from them recently, shipped and received quite quickly.
