Here are some pics of the thing. There is a thread somewhere on R3V with that box installed, the guy is in Canada. CBouchex let me use his car to model it.

Seriously! I bet that thing pounds with all that open cabin!

Did you keep the specs and can build the box on order? I'm looking at importing a touring, but it will be a few years out.

Hey folks, I realize I'm pretty much a nobody here, and Luke is, in his own words, one of the OG's... But I thought I would share my experience anyway.
My fairly nice white vert was the prototype for his first bass box effort.

I met Luke when he moved to Renton, and we immediately hit it off well. Soon my car was the long term test mule, he had it for months. No problem, it's just a toy for me, I was, and am, very happy with his work. But the story, unfortunately, doesn't end there.

Not long before his move to the big beautiful place in Centralia, I, knowing he was hurtin' for cash, let him take on a couple projects with my car. Complete under hood detail, replace failing starter motor, suspension bushing install and an amp rack. Again, the quality of his and Justin's work was very good. The issue, however, was, and still is, the follow up work and keeping of promises made.

#1 No access to spare tire without amp rack removal. All involved agreed this to be unacceptable.
#2 Suspension making pretty loud noise that was not present before the work they performed. Again, I was told this would be taken care of.
#3 During the detail work, all the under hood stickers were removed, and during the prototype bass box work the battery counterweight bolts were lost.
All were supposed to be taken care of as part of the job[s].

Now I realize these are not life altering problems by any means, and that I did get a good deal for all the work that was done. Understand though, I have done a LOT for him as well. And in return, he has totally ignored me, refusing to answer email, Facebook or R3V pm's. At all. While it is usually my preference to handle such matters in private, he has given me no choice but to take this public, here, in his biggest market.

The trail of broken promises apparently is not new to him, and while others may be willing to let it go, I am not. Luke, Justin or Nigel, care to respond? Of course I realize this is only one side of the story, but I have given you multiple opportunities to tell me your side.

Finally, stupid as it may be, the part that hurts most is the loss of a friend. Yes, perhaps a friend I never had, but the feeling remains. So, my flame suit is on, let's hear it, anyone, especially a GAS team member, care to respond?

Umm... I actually plan to carry cargo?

When I go snowboarding I'd like to fold down the seats and toss my snowboard and gear in without having to disconnect and move the box to get space?

Design for me a stealth 10" sub enclosure that can use up the airspace in the rear battery compartment is (shown below) and I'd be happy to run your product.

I want an enclosure built that will extend out to the edge of the spare tire well (where the 2 round circles are) and up to the bottom of the rear window.

Well it doesn't pound but I do not know if the the sound system that was installed was setup correctly and if the sub was getting enough power.

I'll let you all know that I did receive my amp rack this past Friday, Oct 19th... 2 days shy of 7 months since I paid for it. I haven't had a chance to install it yet, I'll let you all know how it goes.

Good to hear! Lets all hope Luke makes it through these hard times!

I purchased a box from Luke when GAS was first starting out. He personally helped me run the wires hook everything up and make it look nice. Just when I thought it was time to leave he told me to pick some of my favorite music and turn it to a volume that I enjoy listening at. He then proceeded to spend some of his personal time tuning my system, it was around 11pm but he didnt want me to leave until I was 100% satisfied. Highly recommend Luke

To everyone who is flaming Luke: Way to kick a man when hes down.

Just want to throw my $.02 in..

I was one of the early adopters of the vert Lukebox. I pre-ordered mine in December as a cash donation to help Luke out through the holidays on the advice of a good friend who does/would like to do volume business with Luke. I specifically said no rush on getting me my box, get through the holidays and keep me posted.

I ended up not getting my box till about March this year and as the car was getting resprayed and then the S motor swap after I did not really touch the car anyway so the delay was not that big of a deal to me.

I got around to installing my box while installing new component speakers and amplifying them all/wiring up thanks to Luke's amp bypass thread. I love that my vert has some bass that can be heard top-down highway speeds, no rattles, and that I still have a lot of trunk space available. Product as described! Luke's packaging of the box with alot of the necessary odds/ends you will need to install inside the box as packed was ingenious and very helpful!

I have nothing but positive things to say about the quality of his work, his technical know-how and helpfulness via informative threads on r3v...I personally have not DIY'd a system install in 15 years and I sure as hell never upholstered anything before this job but with his instructions, the install went fairly easily.

Aside from shipping delays, I would not hesitate to purchase from Luke again - he's a straight up guy who knows the e30 acoustics and dimensions better than anyone I know and we should appreciate this and support him as a forum vendor and mod - at least for the simple fact of all his contributions to this forum.

I don't think the quality of product is the issue here. (read my original post) It's the wait for that is not explained before hand and the response or excuse when you dare ask what is taking so long.

From your post, achtung30, you waited 3-4 months for your box, that's nearly exactly what I waited for mine. Not a big deal, I agree, but when it came to the amp rack 7 months? Unacceptable for me. When I inquired about it, it was always "I'll get it to you, it's shipping tomorrow! It's shipping next week!" then it was "My model didn't show up ... etc, etc, etc." What would have happened if I had contacted Luke and said "Hey, can you build me a box and I'll pay you later?" Well, from his posts on here, it would have been "Pay now or get stuffed, GOT IT??"

There are obviously others that have put up a lot more money than I have and have received nothing, are they flaming on Luke or kicking him while he's down because they actually want what they've paid for?? I wonder how much longer I would have waited for my rack if I hadn't put up a public bitch thread. EN318isPDX or anyone else, would you honestly put up $2k for a product and then endured being ignored for months on end? If so, please pm me immediately! I've got a bridge I can sell you, 1/2 price and no tax!

$2k?? What exactly did you order?
I know that I paid something around $350-375 for the vert box with amp rack.
And yes, I have spent $2k on car parts from other vendors on other forums and I've had to wait 6-8 months as they were custom parts or initial run/group buy items. I too have still not yet received my amp rack, but for $150 of the $375 order, I'm not running to the welfare line waiting for it. I am more than sure Luke will fulfill that order or I will get my money back.

I am forced to agree about the mentality of alot of r3v members.
People stating they desire certain parts, fast, and cheap.

Unfortunately thats not the way the world works for car parts that are custom made or built to order and certainly not the case with individuals or business with not a lot of capital thanks to the lack of a large volume of orders.

I am not condoning what you are going through with Luke is correct but I am inclined to believe a lot of people on this forum are a bit unreasonable with their flaming of Luke.

So you put down money for development and got mad it took some time? Seems you register to r3v purely to crap on Luke. You got your product. He has apologized for taking longer than expected because of his RL situation. Can you just move on and let Luke pick up the pieces? Instead of constantly putting him down.
