i bought a d300, lens, and accessories from e30 gangsta.

his asking price at the time was $1700 OBO. I offered $1500, he accepted, and I even included an extra $50 dollars to cover the 3% paypal fee.

unlike the description in the thread, the d300 was not in "perfect shape". there was a fairly significant scuff/dent on the bottom corner of the camera after it clearly had been dropped. after looking around in the bag he included, i found a repair invoice detailing a full shutter assembly replacement along with the main circuit being replaced. the advertised "1000 shots threw the shutter" may have been accurate, but the body itself had a little under 9000 shots on it, with only the new shutter having the 1000 shots. to me, and i imagine to most people, "perfect shape" is the equivalent of "like new", not "dropped, repaired, and now working". the camera seemed to work fine when i tested it, but the fact that he did not disclose this information and described the camera as "in perfect shape" was very misleading. it would be like wrecking your car, having it repaired, and then ignoring the fact that the car has been repaired in order to have an easier time selling it. i asked him for a $100 refund.

initially, he was very apologetic and said he had not realized there was a mark on the bottom, and offered to pay me the $100 upon receiving his paycheck the friday of that week. then he changed his mind, and decided that even though he had not disclosed this information about the repair, it was ok for him to hide it because the repairs had a warranty, and i still had gotten an "amazing deal".

in the listing he also stated he would include the sto-fen omnibounce flash diffuser that attaches to the sb800 flash. he did not include this initially, and later said he had found the diffuser and would be willing to send it to me if i wanted it. i let him know that he could send it if he wanted to, and he has not sent it (not that i expect it). $10-$15 value.

also listed were "uv filters". no UV filters were included, only the circular polarizer. depending on the quality of the UV filters, a $15-50 value for each filter.

with all that said, everything else was as described and in good condition, but that everything else was not the primary reason i purchased the whole kit.

overall i'm disappointed how this was handled on his end regardless of how good of a deal i got. my complaints aren't about the value of the products versus how much i paid, but more with his choosing to ignore significant details about the condition and history of the camera.

in conclusion, if you want to buy from him, i recommend making sure he pays more attention to detail when describing what he is selling you (especially when it comes to the condition of the item). if possible, deal with him in person so you can see the item before you decide to pay. it would also prevent the possibility of a few-day delay in shipping which happened in my experience.
