I am absolutely speechless. I just got the best, most efficient help from one of the guys at this place.
Seeing that I was having NO luck finding rear black panels for my cabbie on the usual sites (e30tech, here, ebay), I tried german ebay, and luckily found a pair. As of right now, they're at 73 and 63 USD each, plus about $15 shipping to a German address. That's $166 shipped to Germany, IF the bids don't go higher (but I still haven't bid, so it'd be more.) Safer to call it around $200 shipped to Germany. Now add shipping from my friend in Germany to me.
You see where I'm going with this.
So I decided to try going "off the grid" and use some of my other tricks. I went to www.car-part.com - something I use for a lot of my domestic car repairs etc. Never really used it for BMW's, but looks like I might start.
I searched for "interior panels, misc" and searched the entire country. I came up with about 9 pages of stuff from door panels to consoles to sunvisors.
I peeled through the 9 pages and came across a few promising ads - conv rear black panels. I emailed about 8 places, from BimmersSouth to the one mentioned above, AutoPartLocators.net, out of AZ.
AutPartLocators.net was the first to email me - personally, I might add, not one of those automated responses, and Shawn down there said he had a real nice set - $125 shipped to my door. I couldn't have dialed his number fast enough. He assured me that he wouldn't charge my credit card until he verified that he still had the panels, that they were in excellent shape, and boxed them to go out TODAY.
I am in utter shock as to how easy this was.
If you're having trouble finding a part, or if you just want it fast, right, and cheap - call these guys or go to their website. And if they don't have it, go on car-part.com - I recommend both!!
