    Hose kit

    OK, survey:

You order a part that is listed on several parts supplier online catalogs from a big name parts/performance company. How long do you wait for the part before cancelling the order?

    Trick question.

You call and say "Hi, my name is X, my order number is X. I understand the holidays just passed but I would like to know when to expect my package to be shipped."

Result: Sunshine, rainbows, goodwill, and perhaps an extra sticker or two.

My order confirmation was emailed to me on the 16th of December. My box came on the 4th, with another item I had ordered, but no hoses. Now they're telling me another week or two, and that they've lost money on this order. As if that's my problem! They made a mistake and now I've waited for nothing. If I cancel and order from somewhere else, it might take just as much time as if I'd waited for these guys to just ship the dang hoses.

The thing that makes it more frustrating is that they've told me the part numbers of the two hoses that are holding up the order. Just ship me the damn hoses you have and I'll get the remaining two from the dealership!

      Am I wrong here?

Now I feel as if they're just stalling so I'll cancel the order!

If they knew they'd made a mistake shortly after I placed my order (they must have known)

then why not just tell me that the kit is NLA and save me the time? I would have been like "oh bummer" and sought the hoses elsewhere

Once you get emotionally invested, you start to enter a death spiral of frustration and vilify the other guys. If you want any sort of decent outcome take a moment to relax before responding .... choosing not to blow up and get pissy with them when you feel wronged is a sign of mental fortitude often lacking in today's society.

Your idea of having them ship what they have is very reasonable. I'd politely ask for quicker shipping (2-3 day, not "next day only") and perhaps a discount on the shipping/order as reparation. Asking for this while mingled with threats and anger will get you no where though.

This is coming from having been on the other end of this before.

Oh totally. I went and did other things for a minute before responding. I said "sorry you're having IT problems" in reference to their website not being updated, I think they thought that was me being catty.
