If "Ken" was as good as he was, I would (if I bought the s50) try to make amends by getting atleast 1/4 to 1/2 the money he spent to buy the damn motor. If you are a man of your word Ken, its always possible to do that much. Not sit behind a computer, type in a response saying that you bend over backwards, and just leave it at that.

He says he's not out to get his money, but at this point, only money would make things right since a lot of it was handed over. Do the right thing, and give him what he deserves, his money back.

The cost that you paid, and the cost that he pays has no relevancy. Keep that in mind.

jasper is right. even if you dont know the motor is bad you should still give them somthing. i sold a bad drive shaft and i paid to have it rebalcened. it wasnt because i had to it was because i wanted to stand by my word and sence it was messed up i would get it fix so he would have it for his car. thats just how i roll.

          Hi Ken

When you sell something, you instantly become responsible of its condition. Being the "middleman" doesn't keep you from having to supply and engine in the "as advertized" condition. If it is sold as being in good condition, then it is expected to be like that. There's no excuse. Nada. You take the money, you take the responsibility. At the price asked, I would have expected it to be in good condition too. No excuse. After being notified of the problem, you should have refunded your client instantly or found a middle ground if such is the will of the purchaser. And then asked for a refund from the guy who sold the engine. Can't find the previous owner? Too bad. You are screewed. It certainly is not the current owner to pay for your mistakes.

There's NO other scenario. Maybe you have a long history of good service, but this time you got burned, and it might not be entirely your fault. It happens. Let's act straight.
