Was in a process of replacing oil pump nut on the m50 from e36.
dropped the oil pan, crank is locked in place and was trying to remove the oil pump nut which is reverse threaded. The nut was already loose and I was not able to remove it completely from the sprocket with a wrench by turning it clockwise, it is just keep spinning.
So I reversed the wrench rotation and tried to lock it again by turning it counter clockwise, but it also just keep spinning. feels like it has stripped thread and wouldn't want to come out.
I'm thinking just tack welding it to the sprocket.
Any thoughts on how to handle it?
