I'm having a hard time figuring out how to get my tach to work. I've checked the wiring and not seeing any issue. What I've done is swapped out my 320i m10 tach for a 323i m20 motometer tach. The m10 tach would sit around 4k when the motor was running and now the new tach does nothing. Can I bench test the tach to make sure I did not buy a bad one? Or is there something I'm not doing correctly?

Just read your other post. Did you check your grounds again?
