e34 vs. e36 obd2 Harness

I know both work but I read the e34 is a tight fit vs the e36 (length). Is there way to id which is which? Just want to know which one I have.

The e39 harness has the main engine to body connectors on the passenger side. The e36 has the 3 round engine connectors on the drivers seat. X20, x69 and x6031.

I modify the e36 ones to be plug and play if you’re interested. Or I’d be glad to answer questions if you want to tackle it yourself.
