Ok i know this is annoying cause im sure there are tons of threads on hear with a bunch of lingo i would not understand as a noobie to the scene that would describe this great. But i really dont have the time with bein in school and workin to get money to build this e30 to look around for hours. so if anyone could help me I would love to know what the best engine to swap in my 318is e30 what tranny to use and why. And what i will need to do these swaps and im a bit confused on the wireing and shifter and what to use there so if anyone can help please i would greatly appreciate it.:loco:Please help

If you want a m/s52 OBDI your list is gonna look somewhat like this:

m50 intake/TB
OBDI o2 sensor
OBDI exhaust mani/welded OBDII mani
OBDI sensors including MAF (3/3.5)

The stuff in red is only needed if you have a ZF tranny, the stock 260 will bolt up but you need to work something out with how it sits. You can figure out why/how on stuff, and really the only reason im posting this is because i just made the checklist for myself so it was a copy paste.

The best engine is the one you can afford and actually know what you are doing. So, basically, the best engine for your car is the one in it, and the best trans is the one already behind it.
Next easiest is the M50/S50?M52/S52. They bolt right to your trans, but it may not live forever behind them.
That's the only gimme I'll give you since you have not mentioned anything about what you have read and what you know how to do.

Most common s50 and least expensive, easiest - you can still keep the A/C
S38 more expensive, heavier and no A/C

Either one is good depending on your budget
