    S50 installed 2 questions

What is the part # for the e30 318 DME mount? I can't find it here or realoem?

Second I am running ebay headers to dual 2.5 stainless with an x-pipe to flowmaster super 40's (because we sell them at my work) I used them for mock up mostly. What are you guys running that will not sound like a big block Chevy?

    E30 DME bracket part numbers:
    Bracket Left 12141727498
    Bracket Right 12141727499
    Bottom Plate 12141727500

I am running a 318is exhaust right now, and it certainly doesn't sound like a big block Chevy. I once ran a piece of junk Dynomax Super Turbo. That thing was loud enough to wake the dead and had a horrible rasp. I want to try the Edelbrock SDT eventually, with another muffler inline.

I'm running the SS reps into a X-pipe as well, here's my set-up and a sound clip:

      Exhaust specs:
Dual 2.25" tube, custom x-pipe, B&B muffler & magnaflow tips.

you can hold the dme in place with the same four screws that held your old dme. i have mine held that way. the holes don't lign up, but they do grab the mounting tabs on the dme. otherwise 318i hardware works.

as for the exhaust i recommend you use single pipe to save weight. sound comes from good mufflers and resonators. fyi, i love how e36M's sound with single 3" w/ flex near downpipe, (flowmaster y) to a borla muffler. no resonator, but some have cats. Its the sickest sound. i'm upgrading my single 2.5" to this setup soon.
        No more e30s for me.

i've got a dual in single 3" out magnaflow cat to a magnaflow muffler and it is crazy loud. i mean really, really loud. it has some rasp to it at certain rpms, but i still really like the sound. if i drove my car everyday it would probably get old.

Thanks for the replies.... I really have to figure out the exhaust because it's ridiculous.

well, what do you want (loud, quiet, type of sound) and how much you want to spend? then we can help you better. anyone can throw a muffler and some piping together and anyone can also make it sound like ass

I am ok with it being a little loud. I already have the ss tubing and x-pipe made and installed so I just need to find 2 mufflers that will sound reasonable, I realize that the sound is subjective but people actually came outside to see what was driving by their houses yesterday because it is louder than many V8's. I guess at this point money isn't as important as the sound.

i can't preach enough about borla mufflers... i swear by them. are you running dual mufflers (like one on each side) or a dual in, single/dual out? does your sys have flex pipes? i'd have them either right before or right after the X-pipe. also what is the location of your x-pipe.. the closer to the headers the better/even/quieter it will sound

but yeah, when i drove my s52 to the muffler shop open headers (about 20miles!) it was so loud i would barely give it 5% throttle and 1500rpm in fear of getting pulled over. i have a vid on youtube after my first swap, open headers WOT on in front of my development

                  -go to 1:05

there's also a vid after exhaust and drifting at wot if you look at the "countyline" video. my setup is too quiet though, great for street tho

I have the x-pipe about six to eight inches after the headers, then dual 3' of straight pipe with welded band clamps, then 6" flex, some bends to two single in single out flowmasters. The whole exhaust is dual front to back with two mufflers. I had the body shop make a cut out on the passenger side to match the cutout on the drivers side in my Mtech rear.
