Correct Tach parts for S50 Swap

    Hello everyone.

I'm in the process of collecting all the final parts for my s50 swap and wanted to know what would be the correct parts needed to install a 7k rpm redline tach into my 86 325e that currently has the original 5k redline ?

I would prefer to just swap out the tach and coding plug and retain my original 86k odometer if possible.

    Thanks.

Cheapest route is a tach overlay and a coding plug for 7k.

I can get my hands on a complete 7k instrument cluster with the coding plug intact for a good price but wasn't sure if it was a direct tach swap or not..

If you directly swap the cluster, you will want to swap the odometer and the fuel gauge (late and early model fuel gauges need to match the tank). If your cluster works fine, why swap and not try the tach overlay?

Thanks for the info. According to what I have researched in order to install the overlays the needle must be pulled? If so wouldn't the calibration be subsequently affected by this?

I am not 100% certain. I have pulled gauge needles off other cars and returned them with no issue. Just be soft handed would be my suggestion.
