ABS delete and speed signal not present

    Hey Everyone!

Looking for some help with my build.
    1987 325is
    m52 swap m50 intake
    Kassel plug n play harness
    Kassel ECU programming
    Rebuilt cluster through Bavarian Restoration
    ABS delete

    Issues:
    1. Tach mpg speedometer do not work. Everything else on cluster does. Rechecked all connections- all good. Wired the C104 as directed by Kassel. Black to black —-white to yello/white.
    2. Error code from Peak tool (maintained OB2) D6 “Vehicle Speed Signal Not Present “
    3. Misfire 6 misfire 2

Car starts (engine) stops (brakes) fine. No issues with stalling. Does have an idle that hunts around and drives rough.

    My questions are:
Could the speed signal issue have something to do with abs delete. I removed the pump and replumbed the lines. I did nothing electrical (pull relay or fuse) to it. Is there something else I need to do with the OBDll configuration?

Was the wiring of the C104 correct?

Could the tach and speedometer be the same issue?

Thanks for taking the time to read this, and would any insight.

    Ben

Bump. No help? I’ve spent a lot of time searching and still do not have a clear answer or direction. Please help if you can! Thank you!

Did the cluster work before? Do you have a good wiring manual, multimeter and know how to use both?

Hi jbontke, thanks for your message. I’m not sure if the cluster worked before because it had no engine when I bought it. The cluster was 💯 restored by Bavarian Restorations. In regards to electrical ability, I have a multimeter and the electrical diagrams for the E30. I will say that this is my weakest area in knowledge, I get a little confused because of the m52 swap. OBDll and the fact that I’m reading that the OBC harness that I removed to put the Euro clock in and the fact that I removed the ABS system have something to do with my problem.
        I would appreciate any insight!—Ben

I would use the wiring manual to identify the speedometer wire circuit and determine if it is all still there. If it is, then I would continue to determine if any wires in the circuit are broken by resistance (ohm) testing them for continuity.

Thanks. Replaced the speed sensor in the differential, it works now. Down to tach and mpg not working. I have not traced the c101 wire yet, will do that soon. Does the green/red wire get connected to anything? Right now it’s just sitting there don’t know if that’s correct or not.

Thought I’d come back and note what I found out on my issues:
              1. Speedometer- Speed signal not present:
My issue was the speed sensor in the differential. I replaced it with an oem from FCP and everything worked!
              2. Does ABS delete have anything to do with it? Short answer is no. I unplugged the relay in the abs module though jic
              3. no tach: my issue ended up being a water damaged ECU- if I were to do all over again I would’ve checked the ecu for damage prior to sending it off to be flashed/coded or paid the extra 130 bucks for them to send me one of theirs that had been tested.
              4. Is the c104 wire connection correct? Yes it was.

Hope this helps someone now or in the future.
