This is my build and car. I'm so disappointed that his happened. We did everything correct, took every precaution and the end results are heart breaking. I'm so broke! haha

I still don't understand how this could have happened.

Should have run it harder right after the rebuild, maybe strap a trailer to that puppy next time.

We barely ran it at all. Most of the time it ran it was only idling and the car wasn't completely warmed up when it stalled on us, so we basically never got the chance to put some load on her.

Don't worry about it. It's not going to be worked on again till school gets off in a couple weeks.

Alright, just wanted to add a resolution to this thread.

We were still having an issue figuring out our low compression issue when trying to start the engine. Based on a friends suggestion, we decided to take the valve cover off to check cam timing. We were suprised to find the intake cam to not be timed any longer.

This explained why we weren't getting compression to start or why it wouldn't idle. Our first thought was that there was something wrong with VANOS and that it somehow got stuck in the advanced position. But what we ended up finding out is that the torque spec we used on that last plate on the intake cam may have been the looser spec for when a spring plate is used. M50's don't use the spring plate so the torque spec is higher. I'm not 100% sure that this is what caused our issue with the cam position, but after being re-timed the car started right up.

The engine is now broken in and running like a champ. The VANOS unit is making some noise, so Wade may be investing in a Dr. Vanos in the near future.

Yeah, what Mazur said is a possibility of what happened. But it's hard to speculate what actually happened to throw the timing so off. But this thing is FUN now. M50 with S50 cams, 24# injectors, Euro HFM, catback exhaust system, headers, and TRM chip. Pretty neat car.
