    HALP!!: Code 1281

Im having issues here. Everything is all done but when i fire up the car it idles great for about 20seconds (TRM chip) and then goes into limp mode. Stomp test yields a 1281 code "DME control module memory supply - check voltage supply from battery to DME control module."

    Anyone have any idea here??

battery is full, alt is putting out 14.19-14.30v.

Im at a complete loss and need to get this done and drivinggggg!!! Im at $500 for rental car. lol

jogfrogjob had this same problem. Ended up being something on the back of the cluster that was making his car do that. Im not 100% sure so ask him..

not saying it isnt....but i never removed my cluster during the swap or touched any of its wiring. there is also no wiring back there that would influence the straight shot that is the dme supply.

You probably just unplugged the battery. Don't worry about it, the code will go away by itself (I think after driving a certain time over 1500 rpm... I don't remember exactly, but basically it's nothing if there are no other symptoms). The limp mode is something else though. You could actually have a faulty DME (the code is usually thrown from a loss of backup power supply - ie battery unplugging) but it could be for real - or the problem is unrelated to this code.

Ive unplugged the battery like 14 times. lol. Cant see what that would have to do with it.

DMe works fine. The prior owner of the engine/dme is a close friend and it was pulled from the 525 wagon he bought, drove then stripped of its doors and some sheetmetal for his other wagon. Drove perfectly fine.

Limp mode is standard whne the DME gets a hazardous input.....aka low DME voltage/dead O2/faulty coil/injector/etc. If it could endanger the engine, the DME goes into limp mode as a precautionary measure to save the engine.
