    which radiator with a engine mounted fan

    I currently am running a m50 and a m42 radiator. I am swapping to a s52 soon and would like to switch to a radiator that I can use engine mounted fan with. The temp creeps up once and awhile when I am in traffic and would rather this not happen.

    So...which radiator and what fan combo? Or is it still to close?

    I assume I have to run a different overflow tank. ??

    fan delete kit? the m50 and s52 will have the same amount of clearance regarding the fan clutch being too close to the radiator.

      Are you saying you want to get a thinner radiator in order to fit a clutch fan? Seems a bit counter-productive downgrading to a smaller radiator in order to fit a fan.

      On my car, I fitted a small 12" electric puller fan behind my radiator and it was a very tight fit.

      It is possible to run a clutch fan though. I did it on a customer's car years ago, but I'd recommend using an electric.
      Once you fit a clutch fan in there, the blades will be very close to the radiator. I'd be worried about the fan hitting the radiator when the engine is moving.

        Isn't the m42/318 radiator thicker and not as wide as maybe the 325 radiator?

          I went to the local "pick and pull" and found a fan clutch from a mid 80's 318 which was the narrowest fan clutch I could find. I then used a couple of washers to act as spacers to move the fan even closer to the block. Utilizing the m20 rad and fan I have close to an inch of clearance. I've been running one year with the above and never had any problems.

              For the summer Im running a stock 325 clutch and fan with a 325 rad. I have about a 1/2 gap between the fan and the radiator.
