    E30 S50/2 6 speed

    So here is a e30 S50 6 speed mount.

    PROTOTYPE!

I have not been on autocad in a while so forgive me for any mistakes. But this is what I have designed to mount a 6 speed from a 330 / Z4 into an e30 with an S50.

The ends of the mount are going to be long. I planned on trimming them when I got the mount. I also did draft any holes or put in the gusseting. Those should be done by the person building the mount. Maybe in the farther revisions I will have it DOWN PAT. But for now this is rev 1.

Any questions or ideas. Let me know. THANKS!

    Past Car : E30 S50 6 Speed 5 Lug 3.73
Current : Z3 S50 OBD2 (Smog Legal) 6 Speed BBS RN Dual Ear Diff

shouldnt the two parts that bolt to the car be in a straight line?

No. Because the body is not in a straight line.

I am going to have a rev 3 tonight with one more place of tolerance.

      These are rough dimensions.

I would be into this when I do my swap, any production plans or just personal? What will it be made of?

I am thinking either 1/4" steel or 3/16". Both options are flat bar. Then adding re-enforcement.

The 330 / Z4 box is a little easier to find and cheaper. How it does has it downfalls. Requires a flywheel with the pilot bearing in the flywheel. And the custom tranny mount. I acquired my transmission for a 1k. I am 2G's deep. Which is not that bad. The box uses this mounting ear plate that mounts to it. If I was going to change any revisions I would build my own of that also.

If you use pass through bolt transmission mounts you can shim the tranny up and down to perfectly align the output flange with the CSB.

              Bump

I'm very interested in seeing what happened with this prototype.
I just picked up a 6 speed from a 2007 m coupe and the mounting points look nothing like an e36 zf. Any pics?

That mount worked for me. But I had a later revision I should post. I ended up using 1/4" flat bar and there was no need for re-enforcement.

I will get some pics when I get back to the house.

To all who sent me an email / pm about these mounts.

Yes i will start making these, but its going to be a little bit before that.

Please leave your name here (user name is fine) and as soon as I get the first production version out I will send it to a tester. ALSO

PLEASE do not copy the mount above unless you want to bolt through the body. I will release the drawings for the new mount.
