    reuse flywheel bolts?

I am ordering some parts for my m50 to s52 switch and was wondering if i should get new flywheel and pressure plate bolts. I had replaced them when i put the m50 in but can i just reuse them?

You can reuse the bolts, but ideally you want to replace them because of the thread sealant that comes on them when they are new. You can reuse the old bolts with green or blue Loctite.

No, they stretch. You can NOT re-use them.

Same with main bolts, head bolts, and a few other ones.

those things are on there so tight... i think that reusing them would be a really bad idea. they can't be that much money.. are they?

They are not that bad. For being THAT important. They are cheap.

yeah, that's what i figured. I haven't ever done a flywheel, but i pulled one off of my old motor two days ago... 24'' pipe on my wrench and it still took my whole body to move them.

They are torqued in the 80 range if I remember correctly. There is a lot of heat and stress down there.

If I was using the Getrag 260 and clutch + flywheel with my S50 swap, I would use the S50 flywheel bolts correct?

They can be reused, but they are cheap enough to replace them. The only thing in a motor that under no circumstances I would reuse are rod bolts.

And they TTY (torque to yield) type bolts. TTY bolt have a specified angle to torque to not a torque value....Therefore they can be reused.
