    identify this part

    m50 swap.

    no clue what it is, i do know that coolant came out of it.
    and what does it connect too?

    its a water valve....
    sweet

    now the next question is......do i need it and where does it connect too?

      E30 heater doesn't use water valve.(actualy it does, but the valve is inside of the car, next to the core).

      The hose that comes from engine to the valve goes straight to e30 heater coupling in the firewall.
      Current:

      BMW 320i 2d 2.0 m20 -88
      BMW 325i Cabriolet 2.5 m50 -88
      BMW 316i touring 1.6 m40 -90
      BMW 320i 4d 2,2 m54 -01

          That is the e36 heater valve. Useless on an e30.
