    M50 to E30 engine mounting q

Hi. Finaly got my E30. Today we tried to get the engine it in but with no luck. The gap between bolt holes in engine arms is about 5 cm bigger then the distance between engine motor mount bolt. We are ussing stock E36 engine arms in stock location and E28 535 motor maunts. So the question: how? Is there some better way to do that? http://www.akgmotorsport.com/usm50swap.html I see that they but motor mounts on motor arms and engine first. Is it any better that way?

I'm about to start mine. I'm going with the M5 mounts... Interested in the responses.

Move the studs to the outer holes where the tabs are supposed to be. That moves them out enough.

So the tabs will be in the stud holes, the studs will be in the tab holes.

We managed to put the engine in. This is a little before pic, but still

What we learned: put the engine mounts on the E36 engine arms first (other way it seem that they don't fit), they have to be bolted as much as possable, but still be twistable by hand. Then you have to try to get the studs in the outer holes, lower the engine, twist the mounts to arrange tabs in the position, lower the engine... This may be common knowlidge, but we were doing everything the other way around...
