    AKG Swap Motor Mounts

Does anyone have personal expirence with the AKG M50 swap motor mounts? I did the search and people indicate they are going to buy them but no reviews.

I know they are expensive but I'd rather spend a little more money to make things as easy as possible and since the car is pretty much only driven on the street to the track avoid ripping e28 motor mounts.

    Discuss. Thanks

I bought them. But I haven't installed the engine yet. Give me a couple weeks and I'll let you know.

bought, installed, no problems. good product

BTW -- after I tore e28 motor mounts doing track duty I decided the poly mounts were a better option so my motor doesn't go through my radiator under braking!!

Awesome! good to hear it seems like they are worth the money. Anyone else? I'm sure they sold more than two pairs.

I ordered mine, but I wont get them until tomorrow. I'll tell you when I install them later this week. BTW the E28M5 mounts fit almost perfectly but I spoke with Andy from AKG and he convinced me to get the more expensive AKG mounts. Maybe I was suckered into it, but we will see.....

I talked to AKG and they indicated that the e28 mounts did NOT line up and due to that they are prone to ripping under track use.

havent gone with the AKGs, i made my mounts out of 2 in square tubing. 3 in long chunks with 2in slots in the top and bottom for a 3/8 carrige bolt to slide in. lets me move the motor forwards backwards left and right. just thought id throw another option out there.

car feels super solid very responsive and on hard pulls it lifts the left front corner of the car from the torque.

Interesting. Unfortunately I don't have the fabrication skills to pull that off. Even if I did I wouldn't trust them on track! ;)

screw e28 "green" mounts. i tore them up in less than 6mo and a couple of track events. IE yellow poly mounts ftmfw! my .02. there is absolutely no harsh/vibration feel to these either. consider staying away from poly tranny mounts. my car vibrated like crazy with them so iremoved them and went back to stock ones.
                        No more e30s for me.

My IE poly mounts melted and delaminated after 1 track day.

I made my own solid aluminum mounts which I'm very happy with.

?? you serious? wow... my ebay headers are wrapped -lightly- but i have probably 6 DE's, 2-3 auto-x and probably another 6 drifting events on them. Delaminated how? i'd expect them to shear off if anything, but melting too?! crap

Which IE urethane mounts do I order for M50 swap in E30 M3? Do I order regular E30 or E30 M3 urethane mounts?
