    steering issues

Ok first off. Is it normal for an S52 swapped into an E30 to have the bottom of the oil pan rest/touch on the steering rack? (not literally the very bottom, but where the groove in it is at where it goes over the rack, I think i explained that ok? sorry no pics)

I have not looked at that area specifically in a while so i am not sure...

So I just put on H&R race and Bilstein shocks, its grrreaaat, i love it. I was getting some crazy rattling going on and found out it was not me putting the suspension on wrong, but turned out to be my guibo losing some bolts and going to shit + some loose bolts on my diff :(. I got that all fixed and got the sucker aligned :)

It has been aligned now for the last few weeks and felt great! In the last week or so I have been getting increasingly worse slack in my steering(i also replaced the tie rod ends as well). The alignment is off again and it noticeably veers off to the right. The slack is bad enough that i can go around a long corner and move my wheel back and forth and it wont really go anywhere.

I checked everything over and everything is nice and tight, motor mounts and all. I am at a loss :(

shouldnt touch the rack. i have about an inch from any given point on my engine, to any given point of the car/chassis. what mounts did you use? if you did not use the green ones, did you use any shims?

green ones, 5 series mounts. My exhaust manifold is also touching my rollbar now too. I just talked to my dad and he thinks that it was not like that before too.

Sounds like the mounts are getting old or have flattened out so not to support the weight of the drive train and engine. The should not touch as the will rub and wear then crack.

Yeah I am pretty sure the mounts got squashed down. I am going to put some washers in there temporarily and buy some new mounts.
