    the M50 DONOR car

I bought a 92 325 with 135k mile for the engine and tranny for $250.....this idot bought the car for the hood, doors, bumper and some interior and towed it home ,he heard a noise, but kept going...this is why you never ever EVER tow a car using a tow dolly..he ripped the shit out of the tunnel huh!

          ...crap!

explain to me how this happens. i never knew this. Good thing my current e30 chassis i bought for $300 because it had no drivetrain... unknowingly i used a tow dolly.
          No more e30s for me.

it only happens if the driveshaft is still atached to the diff but not the transmission. i have used a towdolly with the trans fully bolted up numerous times

It is. God knows what the hell that guy managed to do. I've towed tons of manual tranny cars with the drive wheels on the ground, merely in neutral, never had a problem.

^^^ there's no tranny and the driveshaft was most likely still connected to the diff......so yeah

I also used a tow dolly to tow my car around, the guy at uhual told me to disconnect the driveshaft, which would be a pain in the ass but fortunately was was just a roller at the time

no,... the tranny and driveshaft was hooked up.... the guibo must have came apart or something,it tore the tranns mounting taps right off .there was no linkage so I suspect he started to unhook the DS bolts and left it from there..the uhaul guy told him not to tow with drive wheels on the ground.!:ohsnap:

OP, well you stated that you bought the car for the engine and the tranny so i was assuming there was no tranny. So the guy fucked up the car before you bought it for the engine and tranny?

He had a spare tranny in the trunk which I kept. The one that was in the car was trash. The DS ripped the mounting tabs right off
