    Head Coolant Passages

have you guys seen m50/m52 heads with only two coolant passages per cylinder? as in two at opposing 'corners' next to the combustion chamber, instead of four surrounding it?

i just acquired a junk vanos m50 for parts or whatever, and upon disassembling it, noticed it only has two passages per cylinder in the head, yet four per cylinder in the block. i dont see how half of the block passages can be without corresponding head passages. they just dead end into the bottom of the head. maybe im missing something obvious. ive never paid much attention but i think all the 24v heads ive seen have 4.

    whats the deal with this?

    head holes

I've noticed and wondered too. When I looked at my head I thought it could easily be drilled. Joe
