    Need confirmation

I'm almost done with the m50tu with m3 cams. But I'm a super noob at wiring...

A is stock battery cable off the e30?? I just don't remember where i took it off from. where does it go?
B and C Are off the e36 harness. I've heard that people just get rid of these??
I have no idea where D goes...

    thanks

Well (D) is a pretty generic connector, could go to a number of places. If it is only two prongs then check for the bottom of the intake, right next to the brake booster area, or check to make sure you have both your temp sensors connected. It could be for the solenoid that connects to the charcoal canister too! I think the connector for the throttle position sensor. (A) goes to the post on the center of the starter. Not sure where the other two go, but I can tell you that there is a cable that goes from the starter to the alternator, probably one of those two??? I used a e34 harness, and left the alternator connected to the engine and starter. Good Luck!

Cool thanks. So A goes to the starter.

I think b and c are the battery cable/s that the e36 harness used. They splice from one cable on the other end... If i just hook A up then can I just get rid of B and C??

There should be one large cable from the battery junction on pax side to the starter (A would be one choice). On the e36 harness (b) and (c) are part of a large cable that Y's ---- one goes from batt junction to starter and the other part goes to fusebox ---- yes you can eliminate it and use all the e30 wiring.

        (D) does go to the purge valve for the evap canister ---- it's branched into the round connector harness for the AFM.

alright thanks. I think I got it.

Do you need the purge valve on the evap canister? I just ran a hose w/ no purge valve

I ran into a fun situation if you run the a line straight to the throttle body from the tank, where the evaporitive canister used to be... I went to fill up the car the first time after the swap. It filled up as usual and I probably even topped it off... But when I started it it ran ok for about 30 seconds and then started to run all shitty. I ended up pulling of the the side of the freeway and disconnecting the line that was supposed to go to the canister and then the car ran all better... I even drove the thing to work without the hose plugged and with a vacume leak... It ran better than if the hose was plugged in.

The purge valve will through a check engine light if it is not connected... Or so I hear/read.

A to starter center post, D purge valve, B on mine goes between the alternator and the starter center post, C is pretty generic... i would see if you can trace it back, if it goes direct to the battery then its to power something(check resistance between the main postive lead, and that one) if it doesnt connect to the main one, then i would put it on the main one. Mine now has 2 smaller ones comming off the main, the car power into the fuse box, and one other simular to that one that powers other stuff in the engine.
