    M50 swap exhaust help.

Well i hoping that the good people here on R3v can help me out with this. I am putting a 92 non vanos M50 out of a 325is into my my 89 e30 4dr. I have acquired all things i need to do the swap but am now trying to figure out the exhaust situation. I'm thinking of getting one of the cheap headers off of ebay but from there i am at a complete loss on where to go. Any help with possible solutions would be greatly appreciated. And please dont give me the typical search response, as i have searched a bunch of different forums for the answers and have found nothing to be complete concrete information.

this is header im thinking of going with..... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-E...=p4506.c0.m245

I got these ones, they look the same ones and fit just fine. The only thing wrong is that the clamps that they come with fail.

ya but see my actual issue is what do i do for the rest of the exhaust do i just use my stock e30 exhaust or what? cause i'm probably gonna do that Ireland motorsports or whatever cat back from E30-Tech. SO do i just use the cat section of my e30 exhaust and weld the headers on or what.

I have the same ones on my s52. Just weld them dont use clamps, my system is SS reps into a Y pipe which moves into a 3in cat, then into another Y pipe 2.5's then out a remus muffler.

but if i weld it rather than clamp it does it not make it next to imposable to to remove?

I have flanges at the ends of the cat so it just bolts up. Also I have a test pipe. It takes me about 30minutes to swap them out.

ya but if you weld the header to the pipe attached to the cat do you not have to take the header and all out when it comes to switch to your test pipe?

Do you ahve any pics of what you have done by chance? Guess you could say im more of a visual learner...lol

                  Thats all I really have.

So the headers come down, merge into a Y pipe at the end of the pipe its a flange then another flange connected to a cat. Same thing is on the other side.

ok your last explanation really nailed it for me, so i need to go out and pick up 2 flanges and a y pipe. weld the Y pipe to the headers, then weld one flange to the y pipe and one flange to the tube coming out of the front of the cat, and presto i can bolt it together. did i get that right?

Yes you did. you can add 2 more flanges to the end if you just want to remove the cat and put a test pipe in place. Its an easy track setup but the top bolts are a real bitch to get too.

oh your using a 3 bolt flange...why didnt you just use a 2 bolt flange. i'm gonna have to put a flange after the cat anyway cause im prolly gonna run this cat back.....

only thing im worried about is I've heard that those headers give your exhaust a kinda tinny raspy sound, did u end up with that issue?

Not at all, just wrap them and they will be good. I really dont know why everyone says they have tons of rasp. I have almost none on mine.
