Is 100k miles too much for an s50 engine? Comes out of an automatic 95 m3.

Assuming it received reasonable maintenance, 100k miles is fine for an S50.
Just make sure the retainers have been replaced if the engine has a production date of <10/95. The retainers (top spring plates) are a known failure point of earlier engines. If the valve collet pulls through, you'll drop a valve.
I would do a compression or leakdown test just to see where you stand.

haha, I figured a little more detail would be a little more reassuring. :mrgreen:
In any case, even if the engine has a early production date, you can replace the upper spring plates, but this requires some specialized tools and know-how.
