Correct Idle Control Valve

I'm running across two different ICVs. I'm running OBDI on my 98 s52. Do I need the ICV for the pre96 325i like my ECU or do I get an ICV for the 98 s52? Thanks.

ECU controls the ICV therefore match the ICV to the ECU.

obd1 and obd2 icv's are interchangeable
