    Temp, tach, light. problem gooo

I am having a bit of trouble with my swap. Long story short I am getting no temp gauge or tach and my service lights stay lit even when the key is out of the ignition. One problem at a time here we go..

    Temp gauge issue:

To start I have checked all my wiring with a meter and everything is perfect. Temp sensor is correct m20 single pin located in the second temp senor hole closest to the firewall, correct plug (not dme plugged into it the wrong sensor) 40 ohms, continuity between the temp plug and c101. When I ground the pin at the c101 the gauge does not peg like others have suggested in other threads. After all of the above tasks were performed I pulled apart my cluster swapped the temp gauge for a known working one from an old vdo parts cluster and noticed alot of corrosion on the main board of the new motometer (alpina style being used). I bought this moto cluster used and was told it was working. Speedo works as does gas gauge.

    Tach:
Wired correctly don't know where to start. My car is a 89 325is. From what I have read the tach is wired through the c101. I did use a etm to confirm this. This is all bit frustrating at this point. I am thinking the issue might be the cluster. I might have a local guy to borrow his cluster to diagnos this issue further. I am checking to see if I over looked something or did something wrong.

    Service lights:
Stay lit when key is out of the ign. weird.

I am guessing all of the above problems may be due to corrosion where the si board meets the main display board in the cluster preventing a signal from reaching its intend destination and a short causing service lights to stay lit . I cleaned the corrosion off the best I could installed everything nothing changed. hmmmm.

I will post a wiring diagram when I get home tonight for additional insight.

For starters, it appears that the Si Board batteries are dead. No Tach and No temp are symptoms of the bad Si board batteries.

Ok, I will check the batt didn't even think of that.

      Edit
Any suggestions where to pick up the new batteries? I can only seem to find new complete si boards. Maybe radio shack will have something?

      NVM found some.

OK well the problem was the si board batteries splooged all over the board. I am using a mediocre cluster main board is still a bit nasty but everything works. Now I just need to get my oil light to go away. Thanks for the help once again!!
