    M50 + zf310

hey guys! i have a few questions about possible setups. i have a m50NV engine out of a 525i automatic and i bought a zf310 transmission.

now my problem is, that i don't know what is the best setup to go with? what fits the zf transmisson and what not? i've read a few threads and read that a m3 clutch fits, then it doesn't fit, someone mentioned a e34 m5 clutch. now i'm confused. clutches from which m3 ? US or EURO? i live in europe so the euro m3 are common.

i want a good clutch and if possible an light flywheel to avoid the dual-mass stuff

    any ideas? suggestions? help?

(sorry if my english is bad)

they will all fit, the E30 clutch(with a getrag 20 anyways) is the same as the E34 clutch... i bought a sachs clutch and got a list from worldpac that shows all the compatable models, my 84 325E and my 92 525I(doner car) were both on it... I can send the complete list when i get home, thats just all i remember off hand.. I got a tranny from a 98 M3 and it works with them. flywheel from any M50 car

in one thread i've read that the m3 stuff just fits the getrag 260. don't know. made me think about the whole stuff again.

btw would that f1 racing flywheel fit into my ZF310 ? and with which clutch it would be the best combo?

          It will fit.
          BUT
You have to shorten the guide tube for the throwout bearing.
The F1 flywheel face is set back 3-4mm too far so the guide tube will overide the disc hub and will weld the two pieces together.
Believe me, you will not be happy if that happens.

oh snap, that would be a very bad situation if something like this happens. are there better things to buy? or better solutions?

i can shorten that thing, shoud not be a big problem. on the other hand there is maybe a better solution

After I ripped the guide tube off of the trans to get the eng/trans apart, I had to replace the guide tube.

Since I was stuck with the flywheel, I cut 3mm off the nose of the new guide tube, then reamed out the Inner diameter of the tip of the tube 3mm deep so it would not touch the clutch disc hub.

You may as well buy the Gripforce flywheel instead. No reported problems with it as far as I have seen.

                thanks for the tip/guide

edit: does the gripforce flywheel need any installation? (same as f1 maybe?)

AND huge question. does a euro m3 3.0 clutch fit into the zf transmission. i would assume yes but i'm not sure. i found a sport clutch so i was wondering if it fits.
