How to install m50 dipstick tube

Well, dumbest question of all time. I managed to sucessfully install my clutch/flywheel and transmission from under the car with the m50 already installed.... but the dipstick tube won't go into the oil pan all the way. I am afraid to break something by getting it in there. It has a new o-ring on the end... but it won't go all the way down into the pan. Suggestions welcomed.

I'm amazed at how a little moly grease made it pop right in there. Thanks.
